Elvis Presley RCA EP Record Guide (US)

eap-epsAn extended play (EP), as defined for the purpose of collecting Elvis records, is a 7-inch vinyl record which contains more music, generally twice the number of tracks, than a single, but is too short to qualify as an LP. EPs were generally given a title, as opposed to being named after a lead track.

There are over 30 regular release extended play (EP) records and several more promotional releases. Each release offers significant packaging and label variations. In the early years, RCA production plants had issued EPs with and without lines and with Nipper “Dog on Top” (DOT). Error releases omitted the “Dog on Top” (DOT) and are quite difficult to obtain. Later releases are “Dog on Side” (DOS) or the ultra rare “orange” label releases. I will provide variations in separate guides.

Elvis Presley RCA Extended Play (EP) Record Guide (US)

This is a pictorial guide of Elvis Presley EPs. The pictures in this guide are from my personal collection and is far from complete. I have found it easier completing a collection of LPs and singles than collect EPs. The later releases are extremely difficult to find and when found they are often offered at a considerable cost.
